Life stress and its correction in disabled and non-disabled adolescents and university students

Abstract

Political and social tension in the world makes life stress and its impact on different aspects and levels of human life an important problem. There is an especially high demand in studies focusing on life stress in adolescents and young people with disabilities, their psychological support, and methods of correctional work.

Our article analyzes available research on life stress and resources in students with disabilities. It presents methods of logo-psychotherapy and art logotherapy that can be used when working with people who have experienced life stress.

We consider the theoretical concepts of stress and life stress. We analyze the available approaches to the correction of stressful states in terms of semantic regulation and self-regulation, and present research on the personal resources of conditionally healthy students and students with disabilities. Stuttering (logoneurosis) is considered as a model of life stress. We demonstrate the methods of logo-psychotherapy and art logotherapy that can be used to overcome life stress in high school students and university students with normal development and with developmental difficulties.

Theoretical concepts of life stress and its correction and of the resources of students with disabilities require further research. The phenomenon of stuttering can serve as a model of life stress, and the system of family group logo-psychotherapy can serve as a model of coping with stressful states. Methods and techniques of art logotherapy can be used to overcome life stress in students with disabilities.
