This article examines the challenges of navigating the cultural and educational landscape of a modern metropolis. Despite the high density of cultural and educational institutions in Saint Petersburg, information regarding programs for children, target age groups, and locations remains fragmented across numerous disconnected sources. This lack of integration hinders the planning of developmental leisure activities by families and teachers.
The study aims to systematize data on Saint Petersburg’s cultural and educational environments accessible to children and to develop an interactive navigation tool. The article refines the conceptual framework of the ‘urban cultural and educational environment’ by synthesizing environmental, learner-centered, activity-based, axiological, and integrative approaches. The empirical data include a registry of over 140 venues classified by category, age suitability, seasonal availability, and administrative district.
The interactive map was created using the Yandex Map Constructor free platform, ensuring public accessibility and cost-effectiveness. Data analysis revealed significant territorial disparities in resource distribution and a notable shortage of programs tailored specifically for adolescents.
The practical significance of this research lies in providing a functional navigation tool that can be used by families to plan cultural leisure time, by teachers to design extracurricular itineraries, and by district administrations to identify infrastructural deficits. Future research will focus on developing algorithms for personalized educational routes, designing thematic modules aligned with school curricula (history, literature, natural sciences, and world art culture), expanding the map’s geographical scope, and adding more types of cultural and educational environments.
